Man and mountains

Ionisation is a natural occurrence...... it is that clean fresh 'mountain-top air' you experience in nature.

Air ions are a natural part of the atmosphere, we breathe them in every day. In pristine environments ions are abundant but are depleted in our cities and indoor spaces by pollution and emissions. AtmosAir is simply the best HVAC air purification method. It restores ion levels to what is found in natural clean environments resulting in clean purified air.

Bi-Polar Ions: How do they work?

Bi-Polar Ionization (BPI) is not a new technology - it has been studied for over 50 years with over 40 peer reviewed scientific studies worldwide.

AtmosAir systems saturate the air in the occupied space with bi-polar ions which then can interact with contaminants in air and on surfaces at their source, a truly active method to generate clean purified air.

AtmosAir systems use very low voltage which means no harmful Ozone is generated.

The AtmosAir design targets an ion level for indoor spaces of 500 to 1,500 ions per cm3 - just as you would find in clean outdoor air

Particle Agglomeration

Bi-Polar ions cause particles to attract to other particles and clusters of ions. This makes them bigger and heavier.

These agglomerated particles will be better captured by less efficient filters as they have got bigger.

Many particles never get to a filter, especially those generated from the ground up. These will fall back to the floor more rapidly than typical and are neutralized. They are quickly displaced from the 4’ to 7’ breathing zone.

The AtmosAir effect can occur on any size particle even sub micron particles like a virus. These very small particles normally can stay suspended in air for hours and can only be caught by very restrictive filters like HEPA. MERV 17 and above.

AtmosAir BPI DBD Technology Is Not:

An ozone generator. AtmosAir technology by a combination of lower voltage to the tube, balanced ion generation and ev potential of over 12.06 minimizes ozone generation to trace amounts below any compliance threshold.

A precipitator or corona discharge device.

AtmosAir BPI does not charge particles which then want to cling to a surface but the bi-polar effect neutralizes charges.

AtmosAir is a Dielectric Barrier Discharge process using a sealed emitter, corona discharge is where the air is the dielectric.

It is a controlled device. All AtmosAir HVAC air purifiers have variable outputs and those connected to AtmosSmart have automatic dynamic adjustment capability.

How does AtmosAir work against various bacteria, viruses and germs?

Positive and negative ions surround the surface proteins that form on organisms and trigger infections (hemagglutinin), changing them into highly reactive OH groups called hydroxyl radicals. These take a hydrogen molecule from the hemagglutinin and change it into water. The ions destroy the virus surface structure on a molecular level, rendering it incapable of causing infection even if it enters the body.

How does AtmosAir reduce Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)?

Bi-polar ions generated by the AtmosAir HVAC air purifiers surround the VOCs and break down hydrocarbon chains, reducing these complex compounds into immeasurable levels of carbon dioxide and water.
